Gary Kustis

Dr. Gary Kustis joined Watterson, Aldridge & Associates, Inc. in 2006. Prior to this, Gary spent the previous ten years as a consultant at O'Brien, Passen & Associates, Inc. in Cleveland. Gary’s practice focuses on assessment for the purposes of selection and career development. He has worked with a variety of both small and large organizations in their efforts to optimize person-job fit in critical roles. Today, Gary specializes in working with private equity firms in helping them complete the due diligence on the management teams of the companies being considered for acquisition. In addition, Gary has helped many other companies deal with other important issues such as team building, conflict management, sexual harassment, and human resource planning.

From 1991 to 1995, Gary worked as a Teaching Fellow in the College of Business Administration at Kent State University, while completing his Ph.D. in Micro-Organizational Theory and Personnel (with a minor in Statistics). Prior to this, he received a Master's degree in Consumer and Industrial Psychology and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Cleveland State University. Gary still continues to teach and research in the fields of human resources and psychology. He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in human resource management and organizational behavior at local universities in the Cleveland area.

The outcomes of Gary’s research have been published in journals such as the Journal of Business and Psychology, the Journal of Managerial Issues, Sex Roles, the Employee Responsibilities and Rights Journal, and Perceptual and Motor Skills. Dr. Kustis also co-authored a book chapter, “The Real ‘Disclosure’: Sexual Harassment and the Bottom Line” in Sexual Harassment in the Workplace: Perspectives, Frontiers, and Response Strategies (M. Stockdale, Ed.; Sage Publications). In addition, he has made over 20 presentations of his research to the Academy of Management, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, the Strategic Planning Society and the National Business and Economic Society, among others. His current research interests are in psychological assessment and 360o feedback systems.

Dr. Kustis is a Member of the Academy of Management, the American Psychological Association, the Association for Psychological Science, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the Northeast Ohio Human Resource Planning Society.

John (Skip) H. Aldridge has been chosen by our organization to assist in the development of personal effectiveness strategies for key executives. Through a combination of assessment, interview, and observation, Skip has been effective in working with key staff in designing personal improvement strategies which are meaningful to the impacted individual as well as to our organization. His style and approach is received in a helpful, non-threatening, positive manner and he is viewed as an extension of our own staff.
